Start with the exact location, not the photograph
The total solar eclipse reaches Luxor on 2 August 2027. City-centre calculations put maximum eclipse near 13:05 local time and totality at about 6 minutes 22 seconds; the precise result depends on your coordinates. Ask for a map pin for the actual observation area, not simply the hotel address. A beautiful river panorama, a temple photograph or an artist’s eclipse impression does not establish where guests will stand. Ask what you can actually see from your allocated space
A useful site check considers the Sun’s position at the event time, not just an attractive sunset view. Ask the organiser to check the exact observing area for roofs, trees, canopies and neighbouring buildings. A shaded table may be comfortable between observations but have its overhead view blocked; there should be a short, straightforward route to an open observation space. Photographers should ask separately about tripod space and any equipment restrictions.
